Micro Seiki BL-51 + Audio Technica 440MLB,

Very well spent my day

finally with the right mood and decided to setup my new toy today

the Micro Seiki BL-51

did some basic cleaning

the platter is not as heavy as Thorens' but it is sitting on a very heavy duty spindle

think almost a year liao i didnt mount a cartridge. a bit kalang-kabuk nia

decided to use a new cartridge so must match with a set of lead wires

here is the AT440MLB (MM), the eldest brother of AT120E

unlike the AT120E, this comes with a brush, non-magnetic screwdriver and lead wires

here is the Audio Technica AT1010 arm

just downloaded the spec from vinylengine.com, need to digest it and understand what the "Dynamic Tracing System/DTS" is about

spent about 1.5 hr in total to mount and alignment the cartridge

all set liao

test playing "coming around again" by Carly Simon

shiok, both speeds damn accurate

turn the knob to 45rpm and within 2-3 seconds,  spot on

one last thing, the footers are rotatable to adjust the height, super right?

this eliminates the need to go thru the le-che-ness to stuff paper to balance the deck (actually i quite hate this process to ensure the arm is at the right water level along the pivot curve)

happy man now with a new deck to spin

oh, so the Linn LP12 is on hibernate mode for at least 2-3months of resting time

chow
